Scientists and Joe Perry Rock Capitol Hill
Joe Perry of Aerosmith joins with some of the country’s top scientific researchers to rock-out and rattle some historical chandeliers for the The Rock Stars of Science visit to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.. Backup support came from National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins, MD, PhD, on guitar, Harvard neuroscientist Rudy Tanzi, PhD, on harmonica, Joe Ryan, PhD of the National Human Genome Research Institute on drums and David Hull of the Joe Perry Project on bass.
The video was unveiled at a Capitol Hill event celebrating Rock Stars of Science, a campaign launched by the Geoffrey Beene Gives Back® Foundation. Fancis Collins even provided some improvisation on the performance of “Stop Messing Around” by interjecting some of his own lyrics. The video also includes a cover of “Johnny B. Goode”.
The Rock Stars of Science briefing was hosted by the Geoffrey Beene Foundation, Research!America, Wyeth, Elan and the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Rock Stars of Science is a Geoffrey Beene Gives Back® initiative. It is focused on recognizing the brilliant and dedicated men and women leading research today who have made significant contributions to health research. We also want to inspire the next generation of Rock Stars of Science to take up the battle against diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s that impact so many. Join us in standing behind scientists and raising our voices and awareness around establishing medical research as a national priority to help achieve our mission of going from “Cause to Cure in our TIme”.
